An essay by Carl J. Burckhardt, A Morning Between Books (1943), quoted by Calvo Serraller in The Genres of Painting (2005) reads:

"Notice, he said, all forms give that lesson: they enclose themselves, they do not flow. Realize what I mean: that fusion that art seeks today is looking for it in vain, because it does not happen in reality; there is no lilac or pinkish; there is the lily and there is the rose: always within the limits of the finished, of the complete. Everything that truly lives contains in itself something exclusive; Nature is monstrously hierarchical, and the swallow does not mix with the sparrow. Only man destroys borders and blurs the singularity of forms."

This text helps me introduce where my art research is going: “What is painting”. More specifically what is painting today and what are its possibilities. A painting that works at the same time as archive, something it contains, and narration. Without neglecting the reflection of painting as a space where it involves transversality. This seems very important to me, to continue influencing the destruction of the limits imposed.

My discomfort with regard to the possibilities that happen to painting - painting as a tool, as a communicator - has made me appreciate the possibility of completely unchecking myself from what she suggested: a representation of what happens outside of me from a figuration, a representation of what happens within me from an abstraction, an experimentation with the actual pictorial matter, a theorization about what is not painting and a few more valuations. The concept of memory is one of the loopholes that make this painting present. There is that double function here that I mentioned a few lines ago, painting as a vehicle that narrates and contains at the same time. It is in the story that the painting he remembers is involved, making the gaze of the other be built based on the remaining grounds. The memory remains and represents something that still is. It is there where the painting appears as narration. In Narrative perspectives in theory and in practice Vogel (2014) quotes Várela, 1990, to make a clarification: “narratives imply an interactive pairing between the narrator and the world”, which shows that being narrative consists necessarily of representations, writings that are inscribed on a historical-experiential event. Necessary condition that the paint has to deal with.
